Temporomandibular joint (TMJ)
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders can cause jaw pain, pain in the jaw joint, and discomfort in the surrounding muscles. This condition may result from various factors such as genetics, joint degeneration, jaw injuries, or habits like teeth grinding, tooth clenching (both conscious and unconscious), which increase pressure on the temporomandibular joint and lead to its dysfunction.
Signs of jaw dysfunction.
- Hearing a clicking or popping sound in the ear when chewing, known as jaw clicking.
- Jaw makes a sound.
- Pain in the temporomandibular joint, which may occur on one or both sides.
- Pain or radiating pain around the ear when moving the mouth, possibly affecting one or both sides of the face.
- Jaw locking, unable to open or close the mouth.

- Cartilage in the joint is damaged by osteoarthritis
- The joint is traumatized by external factors, or the cause may be unknown
